s file of 59 Kb, so you can see there is some correlation between the two figures which equally will give some indication of the number of polys. The Semaphore Church building has 88 polys and a.

The front unit of the same loco has 6278 polys and a. The middle unit of the SAR 400 class Garratt has 6022 polys and a. However, the size of the uncompressed shape file (.s) will give a good indication, but no more than an indication. Unless you have the original 3D files you cannot get the exact poly count. In RE, the "Placement" dialogue box has that stat in the bottom right corner - "tile objects". Always good to address the source of the problem, not just the symptoms. I strongly suspect that the source of your problem is the number of items on the tiles - perhaps a quick look at this might warn you of future problems. It will render hundreds of fence pieces with a couple of polys each, but if there are high poly count items in the tile, these will dramatically reduce the number of items on that tile (and to a lesser extent the adjacent tiles). One of the determining factors is the size (number of polys) of the items on the tile. I have also had routes crash at 1100 or so. I have seen routes with over 2000 items on each of adjacent tiles and it behaves fine. Generally we have said about 1200 - 1400 is max. MSTS has a finite limit of the number of items on a tile. As Yuri said, RE "leaks memory" ie when you save, it does not handle the closing of unused memory correctly and retains some memory.Ģ.
#MSTS ROUTE EDITOR CANNOT CONTROL CAMERA PATCH#
The advent of the Bin patch increases the above times but does not eliminate the concept. These will not prevent every RE disaster but they will eliminate a great proportion.
#MSTS ROUTE EDITOR CANNOT CONTROL CAMERA PC#
This has only been happening with MSTS.im running a top-end PC with a samsung LCD 19" screen, i run the game on 1440x900 pixels 32-bit, and route editor on 1024x768 pixels 16-bit so that it runs.Īny ideas? hertz or refresh rate maybe? screen settings? power settings? none of the above? lol Im not sure.

Just on the topic there Yuri, the error messages that sometimes pop up because route editor is a crank S.O.B! lol thats not the only problem i am getting, the other one i am getting which i just cannot work out is my screen just going blank.and then constanly flashing.like flickering, thus i cannot see anything or even shut-down to reboot the computer so have to turn off PC manualy (which isnt good to do) Just meant i lost 3 hours work, not 3 weeks! haha so im happy. Yeah thanks Yuri, i know theres probably many ways of saving your route to just be sure.but i probably wouldnt keep burning CD/DvDs backups every night! lolīy the way i got it working fine again, ended up i discovered the corrupted tile in the World folder, and deleted it and replaced with the original un-edited tile. And you get your apostrophes right, Allan, yes, I'm off to bed. I know Allanl will jump in here and point out that a whole route can be zipped and saved to a CD/DVD on a regular basis, and take only a few Michael: I'm impressed: you're one of the very few people who (correctly) write "revert" instead of "revert back". Back up regularly - basically back up as much as you can afford to lose. Consider using the -mem switch ( ) or MSTS-Bin.Īlso read for advice on backing up your route. Exit and reboot the computer every hour or so to rest the memory. If you're really anal about it all, exit RE to the desktop every 20 minutes or so, then restart. Michael's suggestion should fix your immediate problem but in future when saving, point the camera at the sky and click the sky to make sure NOTHING is selected, then save. Please help me if you know what i can do.Ī common cause of this error is to save the route with an item selected (ie in wire-frame mode). Please tell me there is a way of restoring that particular tile to default.that way i can just re-do that section, and not the whole route. Now this is the 2nd time its done this, last time i hadnt done much so i restarted again, but im not gonna restart now.this is ridicoulous, i have spent so much time on it and it was coming along so good.

Then it shut from the program, i re-opened the route.Īnd it has wiped out all the track, roads, and all scenery from the area i was working in (seymour) back towards Avenal (the start of the route) its only a small section, seems its 1 tile worth of stuff that has just vanished I was just using the 'mode selector' putting some scenery on the ground, when i went to do a quick save (like i do around every 5-10 minutes)Īnd an error message popped up saying "train simulator.exe is not responding and needs to close" Let me explain, i have been heavily modifying Russell Beers route of "VR Northern Main 1950's" route to bring it up to modern day looks. Really need some help on this one.i hope it can be fixed.
